Sambal – Seafood laksa

Sambal – Seafood laksa

One thing I didn’t count on was that Sambal’s lunch menu was on the sparse side. You can order their entree, but the lunch menu consists of Laksa, Nasi Lemak, and Hainan Chicken rice, all rather disappointingly standard fare, especially when compared to their dinner menu.

It might have been because of Father’s Day, but service was absymally slow even with the limited menu. The food dribbled one by one, with the laksa turning up last. The chicken satay was lovely, but my Hainan Chicken Rice was a bit of a dissapointment. The chicken was wonderfully tender, but the rice was hard and undercooked and when I asked for some sambal belachan the waitress quickly shook a no eventhough it comes with the laksa anyway.

As for the rest of the meal, the laksa was unremarkable and the Nasi Lemak though not presented in the most appealing way, actually ended up being a winner.

I doubt I’ll ever go back there for a lunch, it’s simply too far away and the menu isn’t worth revisiting, but I’m still keen to try it out for dinner in the near future.
